While any Trader Joe’s parking lot is enough to keep you far, far away from this neighborhood grocery store, it’s hard to resist the excitement of finding something new on the shelves. (Not to mention the free mini cups of coffee with soy.)
Thankfully, there are vegan Trader Joe’s options that seem to be cropping up more frequently lately, whether it’s food, household items, or body care products. (Granted, almost the entire Trader Joe’s candy, cookie, and frozen dessert sections are not vegan-friendly, but maybe that’s a blessing in disguise.)
If you’re in the market to try a few new items to try that won’t break the bank, check out these vegan Trader Joe’s goodies that launched just in time for winter 2020.
1. Trader Joe’s Lemon Cookie Scented Soy Candle

Winter’s almost over and spring is just around the corner. So, there’s no better way to keep the cozy vibes alive while welcoming in the bright aromas of spring than with this delicious-smelling candle.
Made with a natural soy wax blend and lead-free cotton wick, this candle burns for 20 hours and comes in a travel-friendly tin. But that’s not why you’ll love it so much. The fragrance — which truly smells as though you have sugary, vanilla-laden lemon cookies baking in the oven — will transport you into a fairy tale of sweetness and happiness. (Seriously, if the scent doesn’t put you in a good mood, then you may want to get your nose checked.)
Just be warned: This candle smells so temptingly scrumptious, you’ll want to eat it.
PRICE $3.99
2. Trader Joe’s Protein Patties

Watch out, Beyond Meat and Impossible burgers. It looks like Trader Joe’s is coming for you. While Beyond and Impossible are some of the most popular plant-based burgers on the market, this vegan Trader Joe’s version has noticeably fewer ingredients.
Read the label and this is what you’ll find: hydrated pea protein, sunflower oil, beets, natural flavors, methylcellulose, oat fiber, fruit juice (for color), onion powder, sea salt, and vegetable juice (for color).
Each meatless patty has 290 calories, 18 grams of protein, zero cholesterol, less than a gram of sugar, and 450mg of sodium. But what do they taste like? In a word: Delicious!
There’s a palpable beet flavor, but more than that, the veggie patty is meaty in texture, density, and how filling it is. Keep in mind that the patty will stay quite pink even after cooking it, so if you can get past the color, you’ll be rewarded with a smoky, juicy, meat-free burger.
PRICE: $4.49
3. Trader Joe’s Vegan Chicken-less Seasoning Salt

Who knew there were animal products in seasonings? While most herbs and spices are naturally plant-based, it’s nice to know that Trader Joe’s is making an extra effort to appeal to vegans. Maybe it’s just a mental thing, but it is nice to have some vegan chicken-less seasoning salt when you’re cooking up Gardein chicken piccata.
PRICE: $1.99
4. Trader Joe’s Organic Ginger and Turmeric Shots

We all know that wintertime is flu and cold season, so major kudos to Trader Joe’s for offering affordable “wellness shots” that can help keep sickness at bay. Better still, these shots don’t cost a small fortune and still manage to use organic ingredients. (Erewhon and Whole Foods could take a lesson from TJ’s.)
Priced at just two bucks per two-ounce bottle, the Organic Mighty Turmeric Juice Shot and Organic No Joke Ginger Juice Shot taste just as potent as you’d hope. Both have coconut water as the primary ingredient with some vitamin C-rich lemon juice as well.
The ginger, in particular, is mighty sharp, with a hint of cayenne that adds even more kick to the throat. The turmeric has a very turmeric-esque flavor and contains black pepper, which can boost its effectiveness.
PRICE: $1.99
5. Trader Joe’s Risoni

Is it Rice-a-Roni, risotto, or orzo? While you could easily mistake this vegan Trader Joe’s dish for one of those classic grains, this legume-based alternative is a great alternative whether or not you follow a strictly plant-based diet.
A half-cup serving of cooked risoni has about 10 grams of protein and it’s ready in just 15 minutes. Use it in place of rice, orzo, and pasta, or whenever you feel like a fiber-filled dish.
With just two ingredients — organic chickpea flour and organic lentil flour — this risoni is one of the best vegan Trader Joe’s treats you’ll find this season (and hopefully every season).
PRICE: $2.99
